An Introduction
The school was started in Ashbrooke, Sunderland by Alastair C. Stuart in 1990. Over the next few months he put students in for examinations with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and was very pleased with the results that were achieved. The Local Authority Music Service was disbanded and he opened larger premises in Belle Vue Crescent to cater for the growing demand that followed.
Further professional music teachers joined and the school was named Associated Music Teachers. The school currently offers tuition in Piano, Guitar (classical, electric and bass), Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone, Drums, Music Theory, Practical Musicianship, G.C.S.E. and Advanced level music. We have a number of students studying towards their diplomas in performance and teaching examinations.
Some of our students have become professional musicians as performers and teachers and over the years our children have won numerous music scholarships to independant schools.
All of our teachers are professional performers in addition to being highly trained tutors.
